Scottish Costume Doll: "Crofter"
Everyday Connections - Costume Doll
Sheena MacLeod is a world famous award winning doll maker from Scotland. She uses authentic Scottish fabrics for dressing her dolls. This doll is a crofter. It has a cloth over wire armature body with a moulded clay head with painted features. Its hands and boots are also made of clay and the hair is real lambswool. A crofter looks after the land tending his sheep and cattle, digging peat for the fire and fishing, etc. His jumper is hand knitted.
